About

Inez Irene flowers is a small, family run flower farm located near Raymond, Alberta.

Our goal is to become a leading supplier of cut flowers for florists and the public in southern Alberta.

In late 2017 our family moved into our dream house on 10 acres. So many possibilities were now laid before us! I was so excited that for the first time in my life I didn't have to worry about maximizing fruit/vegetable growing space and trying to make an edible landscape. Now I could have a large vegetable garden, start an orchard AND have a beautiful yard to boot. So I started reading and reading and reading. What to plant? What to plant? So many flowers, and so little...no, correction.. LOTS OF SPACE!!! I could plant whatever I wanted! And so 2018 is our first foray into the world of specialty cut flower growing. I'm more familiar with the perennials and shrubs. Lilacs are my favourite, hydrangeas, peonies, potentilla, flowering crabs, ornamental plum... you get the idea. Since my previous experience has been with beautifying my rather small urban lots those are the plants I know.  I'm rather new to the world of annual cut flowers. New and excited!!! This will be an adventure! So while I have plenty of trees, shrubs and woodies planted already it will take a little while for them to be productive enough to provide enough for cutting (until recently this was a hay field after all). The 2018 season is all about annuals, and learning lots. For a full list of our 2018 plantings check out our flowers tab.

Why Inez Irene when my name is Stephanie? Inez is the name of my maternal grandma, and she was my hero. I remember going out to her farm and "helping" her with her flowers that she loved so much. Peonies, columbine, lily of the valley...those are the flowers that remind me most of her. She's no longer with us, but flowers always remind me of her. And with those flowers I feel engulfed in her love all over again. Irene is the middle name of my paternal grandma. Throughout my life she was always there to support me. And I'm sure she'd be there to support me in this too. I have been blessed to have such great women in my life and naming my farm after them brings a smile to my face each and every time I think of it.
